I named this blog Goldilocks Finds Manhattan for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I have always loved bears and secondly I thought the idea of me, the farm girl, eating my way through Manhattan would become the focus of my blog. It has evolved to more of a recipe and farming blog but be assured that my NYC eating experiences find their way into my recipes.
Hi! My name is Ulla and I am obsessed with food. (At least I am not in denial right?) I love reading about, eating, and cooking food. I think that food touches upon everything that is important in life. To me, a perfect evening is centered around a good meal shared with loved ones along with stirring conversation. My hope with this blog is to share this passion and to inspire and connect with people who not only care about food, but where it comes from.
I was born in Iceland but grew up on a farm in the Hudson Valley of New York State. Being a farm kid in an increasingly suburban community was not easy. Farming was not, believe it or not, always glamorous! Thankfully, things have changed but as a nation we are alarmingly ignorant about how our food is grown, and the implication of what we eat has on our bodies, communities, animals and land. My hope is to throw a pebble into the dialogue.
I write, photograph and develop recipes. For freelance work projects I can be contacted at ullabear@yahoo.com.
