This is one of my favorite pasta dishes, and I used only 7 slices of bacon! I had Mostaccioli on hand and I loved it with it! Because it is smooth it really makes one think of macaroni and cheese but then it is not! A lot of fun to make and eat! This recipe is a favorite of my boyfriend and it is extremely frugal. You can have an amazing meal for under 10 dollars and it feeds 4!
1 pound mostaccioli pasta, cooked
7 slices of bacon, sliced into lardons
3/4 cup milk or cream(i use milk)
4 egg yolks
3/4 cups Parmesan cheese
a dash or two of extra virgin olive oil
lots of cracked pepper and some salt to taste
Preparation: cook pasta in salted water. combine egg yolks, milk, Parmesan cheese together and mix. Fry bacon until crispy in a large skillet, drain most of the bacon fat, add cooked pasta and then the egg, milk and cheese mixture mix for a minute or two. put a dash of nice quality olive oil over the pasta and mix and serve. This dish is best with a lots of fresh black pepper, so do not be shy when you have served it! Enjoy!
